Ideal Protein FAQ’s
Why can’t I use my own Supplements during the weight loss phase?
With other supplements we can not be fully confident of their quality, purity and rate of absorption. The four supplements required as part of Ideal Protein have been formulated specifically to ensure that the dieter receives the minimum daily-recommended amounts of vitamins and minerals. Ideal Protein supplements are manufactured in Quebec, Canada.
Do I have to Exercise during the weight loss phase on Ideal Protein?
No. In the first 3 weeks of Phase 1 exercise is not recommended while your body is adjusting to your new metabolic process (using fat for energy). Cardio and intense exercise is not recommended. It may cause muscle loss. Ideal Protein has introduced Ideal Protein Fitness. It’s a series of short videos or weekly challenges dieters can do that will not cause loss of muscle mass.
What is a BCA (Body Composition Analyzer) and Why is it so important?
The BCA is a state-of-the–art very accurate method of determining body mass. It reveals hydration levels, lean mass pounds, body fat pounds and body fat percentage. With this information the coach can monitor what’s being lost each week. This will ensure the fat pounds are being targeted. An average bathroom scale only tells half the story.
How long will I be on the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method?
You and your coach will decide to together. With Ideal Protein you lose more inches then pounds (because we target fat pounds not muscle). Often a dieter will feel better at a heavier weight then their original goal. An ideal weight is when you no longer suffer anymore psychologically or physically. Following good nutrition, not a number on a scale is what is most important. Think about how you feel and how you feel in your own clothes instead of staring down at a scale every day. “Beauty is how you feel inside and it reflects in your eyes, it’s not something physical.” Sophia Loren
We often hear: “I know someone who lost weight and gained it all back.
This has nothing to do with the weight loss program they were on. More to do with returning to poor eating habits, skipping meals, emotional issues or alcohol intake. Weight loss is not a solution to your emotional state. Ideal Protein or any other diet is not a vaccine for obesity. With Ideal Protein you will learn to control your weight, not let your weight control you. Also learn the difference between eating for pleasure and eating for need.
If you lose weight quickly, will you regain the weight quickly?
Gaining the weight has nothing to do with how fast weight was lost in the past. It has more to do with lifestyle, eating habits, bad food combinations, level of physical activity and pancreatic function. Ideal Protein has a full maintenance program for each dieter to have the most success at keeping the unwanted pounds off.
Is it dangerous to be in Ketosis?
No. Ketosis simply means the body is using fat as an energy source and transforming fatty acids into ‘ketonic bodies’. Therefore a degree of ketosis occurs in ANY weight loss program. This is a normal metabolic function and totally safe. An individual not on a weight loss program can be in ketosis during sleep, especially the second half of your sleep cycle.
Is the Ideal Protein Weight Loss method safe?
Yes. Our protocol is safe for everyone, except those with dysfunctional liver or kidneys. Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should only use our products as a supplement for their diets. This would be the same for most other diets.
Why is fruit not allowed on Ideal Protein weight loss phase?
Fruits don’t make you gain weight but they can prevent you from losing weight. Once fruit is metabolized by the body it transforms into sugar or glucose. Your glucose reserve is exactly what you need to deplete in order to get our body to burn calories from your fat stores. Fruit is reintroduced after the weight loss phase.
What makes Ideal Protein different from all the other Low Calorie diets out there?
With typical low calorie diets you will lose weight but if 20 lbs are lost, 10lbs comes from fat and 10lbs comes from water and your muscle mass. When you re-gain the weight you put the fat back on, not muscle. Your body is in worst shape after the diet then before the diet! The less muscle you have the less calories you burn per day.
Is Ideal Protein a hyper or high Protein diet?
No. Ideal Protein provides only the required amount of protein per day. No more, no less than needed. With Ideal Protein we reduce carbohydrates and fats, not protein. In doing so, it preserves muscle tissue and protects vital organs to secure their proper function. In other words you will lose fat, not muscle.
How is Ideal Protein method different from other Protein diets?
Ideal Protein packages have up to 20 grams of protein per portion. That’s double the amount of most of our competition. Ideal Protein uses high quality protein complete with 8 essential amino acids for the best absorption. Ideal Protein is less toxic then other protein diets because you consume less saturated fats, no trans fats, no aspartame, no Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and no Genetically-Modified Organisms (GMO’s).
I have always been the type of person that loves sweet and salty snacks, so dieting was hard. The great thing about Ideal Protein is that I feel like I can still have those in the evening. Dill pickle zippers, strawberry wafers, BBQ Crisps? All things that I can have! I've also been introduced to so many more vegetables (zucchini!) plus new ways to eat the vegetables I love (green soup, cauliflower soup). It keeps things interesting and I don't feel like I am in a rut eating the same things day in and day out like some other diets I have tried. Having a coach to touch base with is great as well. Helping me overcome hurdles, supportive, new ideas. It all helps in my success.
As a long-distance runner and overall active person, I was used to eating fairly clean as well as indulging in my favourite vices. I'll admit, being an runner, I was a bit of a "Carb-Junkie". I was also used to eating as much as I wanted whenever. I never believed in diets. However, one day as I was completing a 30 km run with more on my body frame than I could easily carry, it occurred to me that there must be something more to being fit than exercise. My neighbours had recently tried the Ideal Protein diet and both got excellent results. So, I decided to go to an information session about the program and began to learn all about the Ideal Protein approach. It isn't a fad diet. Ideal Protein seemed to be to me, a correction in the way we eat. From the types of foods we are consuming, to when we are consuming the food and how we are combining the food along with proper portioning. There are four phases: a weight-loss phase, a stabilization phase; a re-introductory of good carbohydrate phase; and the phase of maintenance or the rest of your life. I discovered that being fit overall not only required exercise but an educated awareness of what we are consuming. Ideal Protein has helped me achieve my overall fitness goals and educated me to make better choices for my health for the rest of my life.
I heard about Ideal Protein from friends of mine. I was skeptical, of course..... just another diet! Seeing them for the first time after they started... my jaw dropped, they looked amazing and their journey had only started a month prior. I started on March 1st, 2012 at 296lbs. I was, at that time on medication for high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. My weight now is 255lbs. I was also taken off all my medication by my doctor. Yeah, you read it right & I'm not being paid for this letter. I've lost 41lbs in seven weeks. I'm still a ways off from my goal but for the first time ever, I am confident that I can succeed. The program isn't the easiest to follow but IF you do follow it, you WILL get results. The staff at Orchid are amazing.
